Research into necessary techniques

HEYY, so for our film opening I want to include various techniques so in this blog post I'm going to be talking about the techniques I wanna use, where I got the inspiration from, and how I'm going to create them.

First technique !!!

So this is a scene from the movie "Mean Girls (2004), and the technique I want to take from here is the transition crosscutting editing style. so my viewers can infer that the phone call is happening at the same time in 2 different locations. This technique will be placed in my first scene when Ellie and Sabrina have the phone call and Ellie reveals she got their desired information. For this transition, I will be using the "Premier Pro" editing app and to learn how to do this I have been researching some basic editing tutorials on YouTube considering I'm not an expert I have been practicing this past week to make sure I learn how to. https://youtu.be/gDZ0rkvrA-k?si=NnvUIQORiAWFYF19

Second technique !!!

So for another one of our scenes we are going to do a tracking handheld shot of Ellie biking to her house. It is going to be pretty similar to how it is in this Stranger Things scene. The one problem with this scene is that we don't own any drones or any moveable cameras where we could shoot Ellie from the front while she is biking. So we decided the best way to do this is use a car! The plan is that the cinematographer will be sitting in the back of a car with the trunk open then slowly we move the car and have ellie bike in that same pace. It will also be handheld because I want this scene to have a more raw, youth effect.

CCR IDEAS

Hello so I have finally decided the two ideas that I will be doing for my CCR's. Since we have to create two types of media products that strive to respond to the questions. I have come up with two video ideas where I will be integrating all 4 questions spilt up two by two.

For my first Idea it is going to be a dora episode. This sounds very silly but I am just going to be going around answers question 3 "How did your production skills develop throughout this project?" and Question 4 "How did you integrate technologies- software, hardware, and online-in this project." I want to include swiper in my film, the map, and the backpack. I have to think of clever ways to integrate them through the video. I also want to make sure I speak some Spanish, but if I'm going to do that I will make sure I have to add captions. I will also have to credit any Dora soundtrack/video that I use.

For my second Idea I will be doing a directive commentary but a Youtube style. I will be creating a youtube video and then answering the two questions "How does your production use or challenge conventions and how does it represent social groups and issues?" and "How does your production engage with audiences and how would it be distributed as a real media text" as if my comment section had asked them. I will include clips from my movie and other movies to make it minimal talking head. I also want to include and intro and an outro to my movie, and I have to remember to include credits.

Well these are my two ideas wish me luck I am currently on vacation in Ecuador, but my goal is to try and do them here, but this shouldn't be hard because my ideas just require a room and an outside area. Have an amazing spring break whoever you are reading this, until the next blog!

CCR Lecture

HAI, it was a b-day tdy so that means AICE MEDIA CLASS!!!! We did an exciting new lesson today about a part of a project called Creative Critical Reflection. So basically the gist of this project is we have to answer 2 of 4 questions that I will list later, but instead of answering them the old-fashioned way we have to think of a creative way to create two types of media products that strive to respond to the questions

Choose 2 of any of these media products

  • create two types of media products that strive to respond to the questions

Options

  • Presentation w/ voiceover- export as a movie
  • Director commentary- combination of director speaking on camera and examples from production
  • Talk show-"host" interviews director
  • Enhanced podcast- discuss responses to questions, contextual sound is edited in to ensure engagement
  • Other- develop creative way to respond to prompts and illustrate techniques

  1. How to answer each question!!!

Question 1 How does your product use or challenge conventions and how does it represent social groups and issues?

  • Talk about genre customs first; provide the source for this knowledge.
  • Next, talk about the genre tropes you choose to question or why you decide not to question them.
  • Conclude with a talk about representation. Recall that choices about how people, groups, events, and topics are portrayed in a production are considered representation.

Question 2 How does your produce engage with audiences and how would it be distributed as a real media text.

  • Describe how you determined your target audience and include citations for any relevant research.
  • Talk about the content, production decisions, etc. you made. Attempt to interact with your intended audience.
  • Next, talk about how you want to distribute your movie to theaters.
  • Answers should focus on options that are practical for a novice filmmaker. For instance, you wouldn't release your movie in theaters all over the world—this is only a possibility for large-scale projects.

Question 3- How did your production skills develop throughout this project?

  • Consider how your production process changed during the course of the process.
  • Talk about how you start your planning and research.
  • Provide particulars regarding these two procedures.
  • Talk about your production strategy. As you worked on the project, what had to be adjusted or changed?
  • Consider where you began and where you have come to in the conclusion. You might also talk about earlier class assignments and how they aided in the creation of your portfolio project.

Question 4 - How did you integrate technologies- software, hardware, and online-in this project

  • Talk about any technology you used to produce the project first.
  • Talk about hardware, such as phones, tripods, dollies, sliders, lights, microphones, and cameras.
  • Talk about software editing and planning tools. tools for animation tools for graphic design filter produces
  • Blogger

Ideassss

So for my idea I was thinking if creating a Dora episode, where I try to find the mystery of a media studies project and I go around answering the required questions. It has a lot of reworking to do but this my basis idea. I'm excited to think of the idea more and actually develop a script and a storyline!!! <3

Character boards

Heyyy!! So for the character boards, I decided to have fun with them and create them through Pinterest. These are the introductions of our characters and how we perceive their personalities and ambiance. I also included Ellie and Sabrina's settings because there will be scenes that take place in their rooms and it gives a further depth to the understanding behind their character and who they are as people.

Researching film locations

So for my film, since we have the whole plot planned out we have decided where we want to film. So the beginning of the film's opening takes place in "Sabrina's" house we have decided to use Brianna's house and her room. Then we move along to Ellie's house which will take place in our other friend Hayden's house. Then the next scene would be the garage which will also take place in Hayden's house. After we see her biking all the way to Sabrina's house that will be filled in Brianna's neighborhood and then the rest of the filming will be completed in Brianna's house/room.

Coming-of-age stories usually take place anywhere, considering their goal is to show the growth of the child/teen they usually take place in places like schools, homes, small towns, summer settings, nature, etc. Schools are a natural setting for coming-of-age stories, as it's a place where teenagers spend a lot of time and experience a lot of growth. From navigating friendships and cliques to dealing with academic pressures and first loves, high school provides a wealth of material for coming-of-age narratives. The protagonist's home life is often a central part of a coming-of-age story. This is where the protagonist interacts with their family, learns about their place in the world, and grapples with family conflicts. Small towns can provide a sense of claustrophobia and limitation, which can be a perfect backdrop for a coming-of-age story about a protagonist who feels like they need to break free. Summer is often a time of freedom and exploration for teenagers, so it's a popular setting for coming-of-age stories. The protagonist might go on a summer vacation, get a summer job, or simply spend their summer hanging out with friends. Nature can be a symbol of freedom and escape in coming-of-age stories. The protagonist might go on a camping trip, take a hike in the woods, or simply spend time outdoors to connect with themselves and the world around them.
