CCR script 2

 Second CCR Script 2

Hey guys welcome back to my channel today I will be doing your most asked questions about my movie “Whoever gets him first”

To start off let’s begin with an overview of my film, this story is going to be about two best friends, Sabrina and Ellie, who like the same guy. (Tristan) They both develop a crush n him over summer break at camp, they realized that this guy was going to the same high school as them the next year Once they found out the news they both realized that they wanted to try and at least get a chance with him so they decided to create a plan.  Before school starts they found out info on him his hobbies, lifestyle, classes, interests, etc, and before school starts so they could find ways for both of them to interact with him.  After getting his schedule they completed the plan but come to realize that what if liking the same boy will tear them apart. Spoiler alert it does….

Now lets move on to the question number 1 How does your production use or challenge conventions and how does it represent social groups and issues?

Well our movie is a coming of age film and common themes for these films are youth, growing up, and there’s always a main focus on the main character arc. But our movie also contains romance aspects that thrive on the characters working through their emotions, overcoming setbacks, and the leads growing closer together. In almost every romance film there is a love triangle, you’ve seen it and I have too. The notebook, “To all the boys I’ve loved before”, and Twilight are all good examples. For our film this covention is the most important because that’s what our entire film surrounds itself on. That being said that’s why it is important for us follow this convention instead of challenging it. In our film we are choosing to represent women in our film and the struggles of teenagers facing their growing up years, loss of relationships, changes in bodies/mindsets, etc.

Onto the next question How does your production engage with audiences and how would it be distributed as a real media text.

Me and my partner Brianna arrived to our target audience when we were searching researching our genre. We noticed that coming of age films generally have a target audience of 12-18 year olds because these are the people that they can relate to the films as they are currently in the stage of their lives where they are growing up into adulthood. Our production choices such as the overall outline of the movie was created to attract that audience. We notice that people generally like love triangles and this is because they like the idea of being special and two people giving them attention. I mean if it were you and two people were fighting over you imagine how it would feel, actually comment down below what you would do in a situation like that. Another thing we noticed is that writing a story about two best friends going for the same guy is a common things teenagers go through and we knew that it would be a topic of interest to girls that relate to the situation of Ellie and Sabrina so they could watch the movie and enjoy it more because they can relate to the characters on a more deeper level. Considering we are a small production team at the moment we have decided to publish the movie on YouTube considering it’s completely free. Hoping that maybe if the movie gets enough streams that we can potentially move on to film festivals in the futures. Going back to our target audience by choosing to distribute the film on we are engaging with out target audience because this is a huge platform for young adults.

Dora Episode

Hola soy dani and I’m at the beach. Have you ever been to the beach? I love the beach. Today we are going to be answering questions about my movie insert picture of “Whoever gets him first”! Do you have some questions for me, really well I’m going to answer them. There should be a paper around here with the questions. Do you see the paper, if you see the paper yell paper. THE QUESTIONS!!!!, let’s start shall we!! Questions 1 How did your production skills develop throughout this project?  That’s a great question well, okay to begin and my partner Brianna researched all about the coming of age genre. When researching we took a deep dive into the film openings for the movie the edge of seventeen and mean girls, those were our biggest inspirations. We figured out genre conventions, like what type of music is used, the font, the mood carried through the scenes, color scheme, and mise-en-scene. That’s a tricky word, do you know what mise-en scene means??? Well I’ll tell you, it basically the setting and props of the scene.  After learning all this information when it came to   approaching the production me and Brianna felt more much confident in our ability to create a good film. We spend an entire day trying to figure out what story we wanted for our film and we finally came to the decision of a love triangle story of two girls who try to go for the same guy. Well doesn’t that sound silly.  We knew we didn’t have that strong of a story but we what wanted to focus on was the editing, shots, angles, composition and movement. We knew we could impress people with our knowledge of what makes a coming of age film a coming of age film! Do you think we can do it??? I cant hearrr youuu, say it louder. YESSSS. Some examples we have is this bike scene, we were originally going to do a scene where the character drives to the others house, but we decided it would be more fitting to have the character bike to the girls house. Another example when editing we decided to change our original song idea, to a pop one that fit the genre better. Talking about dancing why don’t we have a dance break to the song that’s going to be in our film, dance break. I love that song! So next we need to reflect. Doing previous projects in our media studies classed help me and my partner come to where we are now.  One of the most helpful ones in my opinion was the no sound mini movie project. This project helped me and my partner really understand important shots, cuts, and focus pulls. With the help of our teachers grading and corrections, and the lessons we have learned along the way, we have learned so many production skills that are really going to take our project over the top.

Ahora lets move on to the next questions let me get the paper from my backpack. HEY! Where did it go, did you see where the paper went???. No??? Do you guys see anything. Swiper!!! Oh not we have to stop him. SWIPER NO SWIPING SAY IT WITH ME SWIPER NO SWIPING SWIPER NO SWIPING SWIPER NO SWIPING SWIPER NO SWIPING swiper- AW MAN. YAY we stoped swiper that was a close one. Alright let’s move on to the next question, How did you integrate technologies- software, hardware, and online-in this project. Awesome question. Okay let’s being by discussing the products we used during the product. Well I should have them right here in my backpack!!! I need your help will you check my backpack to help us find the technologies??? You have to say backpack

Backpack- I have 2 things dora and friends here you go!

Wow a telephone, a computer Well you may be wondering how I used each one of these products. Well my telephone was for recording the whole film, I used a special mode called cinematic!! My computer was used for researching, posting on my blogs, and editing! When thinking about hardware, in reality I used my iPhone 14 for the cameras lighting, and microphone. My phone includes 3 cameras that I believe to be pretty high quality so that came in handy because we didn’t have to use a more high tech camera. There is also a built in microphone and special lighting settings that accommodate to the sunlight in our outside scenes. Isn’t that cool?!? Well for softwares we used quite a few, my all time favorite is this amazing app called VN. I discovered this app while creating one of the old media studies projects and I fell in love and have used it ever since. I also used adobe premier pro when it came down to editing the side by side scene of our film, and the transitions when showing the title of the movie, since the iPhone app couldn’t do special effects such as those. Now there is one last super important integration of technology that was used in the process of making my production, can you guess what it is???? YESS THE BLOGS. The blogs were an essential part of my project, this is where I documented my entire process from start to finish, things like script, movie and genre ideas, character boards, etc, are all on the blog. Making this production would have been a lot harder without the blog, because it motivated me to continue on and keep my progress on track!!

Well now it’s time to end our journey, but in order to do that we need to find our way back. OH NO I think we are lost, what do we do, let’s think…. Ding I GOT IT we can use my map. I need your help to check the map and find out where the sound is coming from. I need you to say map, one more time, louder . Map comes out shows us the way back home. We get to the house and I do my ending.

Do you guys want to come along as I talk about the outcome of my film. Alright follow along!! When thinking about the outcome of my project, I have to say I am proud. With the help of my partner I think we came up with something that we are both very proud of. Of course there are some things that we could have improved. Somethings I have learned that I could have integrated lighting more into my project. We didn’t really make it our main concern but when I have had time to review our final product. There were many scenes where we had integrated some low-key or even high key lighting. Not only would it have made it look more professional but It would have been a great way to show off our knowledge on the subject. I also learned that I could have integrated some stabilizers and tripods to make our scenes look smoother and less shaky. In some of our scenes it would have been preferable if it wasn’t a hand held shot, but nonetheless we tried our best to keep it stabilized. If I could change something it would definitely be timing, I think me and my partner struggled on our planning, I think our storyline and film could have been more thought our and better detailed if we had taken more time to think about it. Something I wish we could have improved on was the movement and composition. I feel like I wish I could have gone back done more things like focus, zooming, pan, tilt, etc. I feel like our film lacks all of that and it could have been better if we had taken the time to learn more about how to integrate those into our film specific to the coming of age genre. To me our scene feel a bit plain and adding composition like that could have made our film stand out more.

Poster for film

Hello! so as u may have read in the script the girls in our film pull out a poster. This is a huge part of the movie because this is all the information the girls have on the boy. A little creepy right, well I wanted to share it as a blog post. When making this we used a poster board, markers, scissors, and glue. I think it came out pretty neat, can't wait to use it in the film!

MUSICAAAAAA

Blog I have unfortunate news. So orginally me and my partner had planned to film this weekend. Sadly my parents decided to be out this weekend to go drop of my sister at collage. Not to get too into detail but I'm not allowed to leave my house if my parents arent home, meaning I wasn't able to go to my partners house to film our scenes. I am dreading this so badly because we are soooo behind but, thankfully for us spring break is coming and that means filming filming filming. So we are currently creating a spring break schedule with our actors and guardians that will work perfectly to ensure we finish this as soon as possible because editing is still needed. Now this may seem like a huge setback but we have decided to use this time to create film poster, create a social media for our movie, and our CCR videos (since that is something that we are going to be doing separately)

Me and bribri came down to business and we choose our song! Let me tell you, it was so hard. Like not only because picking a song for your intro is hard but because all these royalty-free websites make u pay for this music or they have so many options its hard to find a good one. Dont worry tho we did it. We want the scene to begin with indie/pop summer vibes. We were looking for music that brought adventure. We are planning to play the song and the title after the phone call scene. So the phone call ends the title pops up and the music begins playing. We have a list of songs that were options but we have brought it down to the top 3. Wrong Way - Soundroll, What a Feeling- Hey Pluto, Psychedelic Summer- Opening line music group. Ultimately we are still deciding between but for now, we believe "Wrong Way" is the winner but we don't know if anything could happen and it could be changed. See you in the next blog!!!

Research into necessary techniques

HEYY, so for our film opening I want to include various techniques so in this blog post I'm going to be talking about the techniques I wanna use, where I got the inspiration from, and how I'm going to create them.

First technique !!!

So this is a scene from the movie "Mean Girls (2004), and the technique I want to take from here is the transition crosscutting editing style. so my viewers can infer that the phone call is happening at the same time in 2 different locations. This technique will be placed in my first scene when Ellie and Sabrina have the phone call and Ellie reveals she got their desired information. For this transition, I will be using the "Premier Pro" editing app and to learn how to do this I have been researching some basic editing tutorials on YouTube considering I'm not an expert I have been practicing this past week to make sure I learn how to. https://youtu.be/gDZ0rkvrA-k?si=NnvUIQORiAWFYF19

Second technique !!!

So for another one of our scenes we are going to do a tracking handheld shot of Ellie biking to her house. It is going to be pretty similar to how it is in this Stranger Things scene. The one problem with this scene is that we don't own any drones or any moveable cameras where we could shoot Ellie from the front while she is biking. So we decided the best way to do this is use a car! The plan is that the cinematographer will be sitting in the back of a car with the trunk open then slowly we move the car and have ellie bike in that same pace. It will also be handheld because I want this scene to have a more raw, youth effect.

CCR IDEAS

Hello so I have finally decided the two ideas that I will be doing for my CCR's. Since we have to create two types of media products that strive to respond to the questions. I have come up with two video ideas where I will be integrating all 4 questions spilt up two by two.

For my first Idea it is going to be a dora episode. This sounds very silly but I am just going to be going around answers question 3 "How did your production skills develop throughout this project?" and Question 4 "How did you integrate technologies- software, hardware, and online-in this project." I want to include swiper in my film, the map, and the backpack. I have to think of clever ways to integrate them through the video. I also want to make sure I speak some Spanish, but if I'm going to do that I will make sure I have to add captions. I will also have to credit any Dora soundtrack/video that I use.

For my second Idea I will be doing a directive commentary but a Youtube style. I will be creating a youtube video and then answering the two questions "How does your production use or challenge conventions and how does it represent social groups and issues?" and "How does your production engage with audiences and how would it be distributed as a real media text" as if my comment section had asked them. I will include clips from my movie and other movies to make it minimal talking head. I also want to include and intro and an outro to my movie, and I have to remember to include credits.

Well these are my two ideas wish me luck I am currently on vacation in Ecuador, but my goal is to try and do them here, but this shouldn't be hard because my ideas just require a room and an outside area. Have an amazing spring break whoever you are reading this, until the next blog!

CCR Lecture

HAI, it was a b-day tdy so that means AICE MEDIA CLASS!!!! We did an exciting new lesson today about a part of a project called Creative Critical Reflection. So basically the gist of this project is we have to answer 2 of 4 questions that I will list later, but instead of answering them the old-fashioned way we have to think of a creative way to create two types of media products that strive to respond to the questions

Choose 2 of any of these media products

  • create two types of media products that strive to respond to the questions

Options

  • Presentation w/ voiceover- export as a movie
  • Director commentary- combination of director speaking on camera and examples from production
  • Talk show-"host" interviews director
  • Enhanced podcast- discuss responses to questions, contextual sound is edited in to ensure engagement
  • Other- develop creative way to respond to prompts and illustrate techniques

  1. How to answer each question!!!

Question 1 How does your product use or challenge conventions and how does it represent social groups and issues?

  • Talk about genre customs first; provide the source for this knowledge.
  • Next, talk about the genre tropes you choose to question or why you decide not to question them.
  • Conclude with a talk about representation. Recall that choices about how people, groups, events, and topics are portrayed in a production are considered representation.

Question 2 How does your produce engage with audiences and how would it be distributed as a real media text.

  • Describe how you determined your target audience and include citations for any relevant research.
  • Talk about the content, production decisions, etc. you made. Attempt to interact with your intended audience.
  • Next, talk about how you want to distribute your movie to theaters.
  • Answers should focus on options that are practical for a novice filmmaker. For instance, you wouldn't release your movie in theaters all over the world—this is only a possibility for large-scale projects.

Question 3- How did your production skills develop throughout this project?

  • Consider how your production process changed during the course of the process.
  • Talk about how you start your planning and research.
  • Provide particulars regarding these two procedures.
  • Talk about your production strategy. As you worked on the project, what had to be adjusted or changed?
  • Consider where you began and where you have come to in the conclusion. You might also talk about earlier class assignments and how they aided in the creation of your portfolio project.

Question 4 - How did you integrate technologies- software, hardware, and online-in this project

  • Talk about any technology you used to produce the project first.
  • Talk about hardware, such as phones, tripods, dollies, sliders, lights, microphones, and cameras.
  • Talk about software editing and planning tools. tools for animation tools for graphic design filter produces
  • Blogger

Ideassss

So for my idea I was thinking if creating a Dora episode, where I try to find the mystery of a media studies project and I go around answering the required questions. It has a lot of reworking to do but this my basis idea. I'm excited to think of the idea more and actually develop a script and a storyline!!! <3

Character boards

Heyyy!! So for the character boards, I decided to have fun with them and create them through Pinterest. These are the introductions of our characters and how we perceive their personalities and ambiance. I also included Ellie and Sabrina's settings because there will be scenes that take place in their rooms and it gives a further depth to the understanding behind their character and who they are as people.

Researching film locations

So for my film, since we have the whole plot planned out we have decided where we want to film. So the beginning of the film's opening takes place in "Sabrina's" house we have decided to use Brianna's house and her room. Then we move along to Ellie's house which will take place in our other friend Hayden's house. Then the next scene would be the garage which will also take place in Hayden's house. After we see her biking all the way to Sabrina's house that will be filled in Brianna's neighborhood and then the rest of the filming will be completed in Brianna's house/room.

Coming-of-age stories usually take place anywhere, considering their goal is to show the growth of the child/teen they usually take place in places like schools, homes, small towns, summer settings, nature, etc. Schools are a natural setting for coming-of-age stories, as it's a place where teenagers spend a lot of time and experience a lot of growth. From navigating friendships and cliques to dealing with academic pressures and first loves, high school provides a wealth of material for coming-of-age narratives. The protagonist's home life is often a central part of a coming-of-age story. This is where the protagonist interacts with their family, learns about their place in the world, and grapples with family conflicts. Small towns can provide a sense of claustrophobia and limitation, which can be a perfect backdrop for a coming-of-age story about a protagonist who feels like they need to break free. Summer is often a time of freedom and exploration for teenagers, so it's a popular setting for coming-of-age stories. The protagonist might go on a summer vacation, get a summer job, or simply spend their summer hanging out with friends. Nature can be a symbol of freedom and escape in coming-of-age stories. The protagonist might go on a camping trip, take a hike in the woods, or simply spend time outdoors to connect with themselves and the world around them.
